My 8 Favorite Fall Candle Scents for Crisp Autumn Days
Fall is officially here! Mild days, cool nights, bonfires, and apple cider donuts—it’s my favorite time of the year. Spring is when everything starts to bloom, and summer has its long, sunny days, but fall is when the world is full of rich colors, soft fabrics, and the absolute best foods.
So, in honor of the autumn solstice and the official start of fall, here are eight of my favorite fall candle scents to enjoy on a crisp day.
Autumn Spice
If you like sugar, spice, and everything nice, then this is the fragrance for you. It contains ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg for that sharp, spicy scent that always makes me think of fall. Then, adding in the middle notes of molasses and base notes of vanilla, there’s no other way to describe this scent better than “warm.” It’s like gingerbread straight out of the oven—just what you want on a chilly fall evening.
Toasted Pumpkin Spice
Who doesn’t love pumpkin spice? As contentious as the flavor can sometimes be, this scent is a must-have for the season. With a strong pumpkin fragrance, complemented by notes of clove, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla, this candle will make your whole house smell like you have a fresh pumpkin pie baking in the oven…without all the work!
Pomegranate Cider
Apple cider is one thing, but pomegranate cider is on an entirely different level. Fruity and rich, this scent includes lemony top notes that mellow into middle notes of pomegranate and red currant, rounded out by spicy apple cider base notes. The combination gives you a warm scent that is both interesting and familiar.
Fall Foliage
One of my favorite parts of the autumn season is driving down the backroads and watching the red and yellow leaves shower down around me as the wind blows through the trees. That feeling is what this fragrance reminds me of. It’s woody and earthy and a bit sweet, with just a hint of fruitiness and spice to brighten it up.
French Vanilla Oak
French Vanilla Oak combines two of the best scent profiles of the season. The warm, sweet french vanilla notes perfectly soften the sharp, earthy fragrance of the oak, making for a wonderfully neutral fall scent. If you’re not a fan of baked goods or fruity fragrances, this will give you the warmth you want on those cool fall evenings without the sugary sweet sidenotes.
Apples and Maple Bourbon
Apples are one of my favorite things about fall—apple picking, apple pie, apple cider—all the apples. So it only makes sense to incorporate the crisp, fruity scent into my candles. And not just that! This scent combines the quintessential apple fragrance with sweet maple and warm, buttery bourbon in a way that’s rich, complex, and perfect for the season.
Sweater Weather
With a mix of spicy, fruity, and woody notes, this fragrance makes me feel like I’m walking through an apple orchard on that first perfect fall afternoon. Apple and cinnamon give it strong top notes that transition into some amazingly fresh and airy evergreen scents, including pine, cedar, and juniper. No doubt about it; this cozy autumn scent will make you want to dig out all your favorite scarves.
Pumpkin Caramel Crunch
If you’re a fan of baked-goods scents, this just might be your new fall favorite. The pumpkin middle notes get a flavorful boost from caramel, maple, pecans, and rich butter. Just the cold throw coming off this candle will make your mouth water. For those of us who love sugary-sweet fragrances, this is a must-have for the season.
